Our 2021 Mid-Year Recap

It’s amazing how much can change in six months since our recap at the end of 2020. We are now getting through the pandemic with the release of vaccines, and not only is our industry coming back, it’s practically exploding. It’s quite a relief, not only for us to be healthy, but also to return to a time when we can thrive and work with each other again.

We just wanted to take a look at some of the cool things that have happened so far this year.

Studio Upgrades

It’s been a long time coming, but we have completed many significant improvements to our mix room. To create a more comfortable experience for our clients and guests, we added more seating space, improved the room acoustics, and had Dolby Labs recalibrate our playback system to be up-to-date on certification. However this is only the beginning. We have more upgrades coming to the rest of our facility soon. We’re very excited about our new work space and can’t wait to share when it’s picture perfect!

Feature Documentary “In the Dark of the Valley”

We recently completed the theatrical mix for a fantastic documentary called “In the Dark of the Valley” This powerful story captures the struggle a community is still facing after a decades-long nuclear disaster continues to wreak havoc on their lives. We also had the honor of interviewing Director Nicholas Mihm to talk about how our approach to sound was so important to this film. You can read the interview here.

Feature Film “This Is Your Song”

This feature-length drama is a technical marvel. It’s composed of just one 97-minute take with no editing or stitching shots together. The story follows a bohemian theatre actress and a beatnik-inspired writer on the night of their wedding anniversary. They are faced to confront the reality of their relationship and aspirations in a city they once loved. It was an honor to work on this project and bring some new and exciting sound ideas into the story. You can learn more about the film here.
